Tim Lauer is retired form UNOCAL Corp. (now part of Chevron). During his 34-year career with UNOCAL his efforts were evenly split between domestic ( USA ) and International assignments. He held positions as an Exploration Geologist, Development Geologist, Expert Witness in Geology, Chief Geologist, and Exploration Manager while working at various sites within the USA . In 1983, he accepted his first foreign management assignment in Indonesia , followed by positions as Vice President International Exploration, based in Los Angeles , and President & Managing Director of UNOCAL Indonesia, based in Jakarta , Indonesia .

He holds an AA(1962) from Menlo College , a BS in geology (1964) from OSU, and a MS in geology (1967) from OSU.

Tim was instrumental in the formation of the Geosciences Board of Advisors and served as its first Chairman for four years. He has also served on the OSU Alumni Association Board of Directors and the College of Science Board of Visitors. He is the recipient of the OSU Department of Geosciences Distinguished Alumni Award.

Tim lives in Houston with his wife, Linda. They have two grown children, a son and daughter. He enjoys golf, hunting, fine woodworking, reading, and travel.
